We depend on monthly giving to help off-set transportation costs, emergency medical and psychological needs, prescription assistance, emergency food and clothing, education fees, identification documents such as birth certificates and drivers licenses, and general operating expenses in providing 24-7 safe housing for victims of human trafficking.
Forever Home: The Hope Village Project will provide extended support to former residents of Latisha’s House or other safe house programs, providing low-cost housing in a community setting with houses and/or mobile homes. These homes will have required counseling, volunteering, financial literacy, and support. If there are children reunited with parents, we will require family counseling as well. This program will extend to 3 years, during which time the residents continue to heal and be stable so that they can then move on in the community and be successful, even working towards home ownership.
The Velma Bodee McDonough Scholarship is named after “Gramma Velma.” Gramma Velma’s kind counseling style was felt by our residents for a few years, but will be remembered forever. Gramma Velma practiced EMDR and holistic trauma-informed counseling. All donations made in the honor of Velma Bodee McDonough will be placed in a special scholarship bank account for residents of Latisha’s House who desire to enroll in the areas closest to Gramma Velma’s heart. Areas of study include: Sociology, Psychology, Music and/or Dance.W
Matching gifts
Many companies from Starbucks, Google, Dominion Energy to GE offer matching gift programs. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift!
